SMITH ROAD RENOVATION, Ashfield, Massachusetts
Carpenters began by stripping this Early American farmhouse down to its post and beam frame. Working with the existing footprint, a large two bay garage was converted into a family room, laundry and second floor master suite. The south portion of the house is flooded with natural light while the north side maintains privacy along Smith Road. The exterior surfaces are clad in natural eastern white cedar shingles to reflect the rolling natural landscape, while interior spaces were aligned with certain viewpoints to showcase the owners art collection.
